Grey’s Anatomy continues! Season 23 officially ordered

Given its good audiences, the medical drama does not seem to be stopping any time soon.

Still standing. More than twenty years after its debut, Grey’s Anatomy returns for season 23 on ABC.

The drama has just been officially renewed for another year, confirming its status as the longest-running medical series in prime time history.

Created by Shonda Rhimes and launched in 2005, the series continues to dominate. In 2025, it rose to first place among the most watched series in streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, while occupying second position across all services in the United States according to Nielsen. Rare longevity.

Central figure of the show, Ellen Pompeo remains associated with Meredith Grey, even if the actress has taken a step back since season 19. However, she continues to provide narration, appear occasionally on screen and produce the series.

Around her, the casting has continued to evolve over the years. Today, we find in particular Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber), Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson), Caterina Scorsone (Amelia Shepherd), Jason George (Ben Warren), Chris Carmack (Atticus Lincoln) and even Anthony Hill (Winston Ndugu). The new generation is also well established, with Alexis Floyd, Harry Shum Jr., Adelaide Kane, Midori Francis, Niko Terho and Trevor Jackson.

But this longevity comes at a price. After the finale of season 22, two figures will bow out: Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) and Kim Raver (Teddy Altman) will leave the series, marking a new turning point for Gray Sloan Memorial.
