Ultimately, this remake of Little House on the Prairie was a good idea (review)

The new Little House on the Prairie does not attract crowds on Netflix

The remake marks a much more discreet start than expected on the platform.

The Ingalls family has set out again to conquer the West… without causing the hoped-for tidal wave.

Launched on July 9 on Netflix, the new adaptation of Little House on the Prairie is off to a rather timid start.

In four days of operation, the series ranked third among the most watched programs in the world on the platform with 6.4 million views. An honorable score, but relatively modest for a remake of such an emblematic work of television.

The figure is all the more surprising since this rereading of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s novel has benefited from significant media coverage in recent months and has already been renewed for a second season, even before its launch. The reviews have been good and despite some accusations of “wokism”, the remake does not really suffer from a bad buzz, which could have completely rejected the idea of remaking the Ingalls with other people… But obviously, this Little House on the Prairie does not move the crowds.

The historical drama is very much the summer hit we were hoping for on Netflix.

For comparison, In Your Footsteps, the adaptation of Harlan Coben’s novel, remains at the top of the world rankings for the fourth consecutive week with 11.5 million additional views.

In one month, the series has now accumulated nearly 90 million views, a level that Little House on the Prairie today seems far from being able to reach.
