Avengers: Endgame (again) dominates the global box office and is getting closer to Avatar

Avengers Endgame returns to #1 at the all-time box office

Five years after being dethroned by the release of Avatar, the Russo brothers’ film regains its title of biggest success in the history of the world box office, thanks to its… theatrical release.

The crossover continues for the ages…

Thanks to its release in theaters over the last two weeks, Avengers Endgame has just taken back the first place at the box office of all time from the first opus ofAvatar. The 2019 blockbuster has now grossed $2.925 billion worldwide, compared to $2.923 billion for James Cameron’s film.

A small difference of only two million dollars, which allows Captain Amercain and his men to recover their crown. The two box office behemoths have already exchanged first place several times during their theatrical releases. Avatar had spent a decade at the top before being overtaken by Avengers Endgame in 2019, following its initial operation. Then, in 2021, a new release ofAvatarorganized before the arrival ofAvatar: The Way of Waterhad allowed James Cameron’s film to regain the advantage.

Five years later, Earth’s mightiest heroes once again pass before the Na’vi.

And Disney obviously wins in both cases…

Because if Avatar was originally distributed by 20th Century Fox… purchased by Disney in 2019.

The studio thus owns 7 of the 10 biggest hits in the history of the global box office, with also Avatar: The Way of Water (2.33 billion), Titanic (2.26 billion), Spider-Man Brand New Day (2.4 billion), Avengers: Infinity War (2.05 billion), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2.07 billion) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (1.92 billion).

And maybe one more in a few months since this new release ofAvengers Endgame prepare the ground before Avengers: Doomsdayexpected in December.
