Charli XCX will be in the next Martin Scorsese film

The “Brat” singer joins Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in the cast of What Happens at Night, a gothic psychological thriller.

After conquering pop, Charli XCX continues her foray into cinema.

According to Varietythe British singer will make an appearance in Martin Scorsese’s next film, titled What Happens at Nightalongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. The exact nature of his role remains secret for the moment.

Described as a gothic psychological drama, the film will follow an American couple who travel to a small European town to adopt a baby. But as the spouses try to get their child back, they seem to know less and less about themselves. A mysterious story produced by Apple and StudioCanal, which will also bring together Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson and Jared Harris.

Filming is over. It took place from February to May last year, notably in the Czech Republic. It is currently in post-production.

This collaboration extends the links recently established between Charli XCX and the filmmaker. Scorsese’s name appears on the cover of his new album, Music, Fashion, Filmalongside those of John Cale and Marc Jacobs, each representing one of the three universes evoked by the record.

The “Brat” singer has also gradually established herself in the cinematic landscape. Over the past two years, she has appeared in several films, including The Momenta mockumentary directed by Aidan Zamiri, his regular collaborator, which humorously diverts the phenomenal success of his album “Brat”.

What Happens at Night will mark the return behind the camera of Martin Scorsese, after Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), already worn by Leo and nominated ten times for the Oscars, notably in the best film category.

No release date has yet been announced for this new feature film.
