James Bond: a new English actor stands out in the race for 007

The casting is entering its home stretch. While producers must choose Daniel Craig’s successor by the end of the year, a new favorite is starting to emerge: Jack Lowden.

Daniel Craig’s succession in the James Bond costume is becoming clearer.

While the new 007 film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, the production has now reportedly entered the final phase of its casting process, with a decision expected by the end of the year.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, the search for the next Bond is almost over:

“I heard they are in the final stages of casting for James Bond and may have already found their man“, he says. Without, however, revealing the identity of the actor in question.

Information that must therefore be taken with caution, as no production representative has confirmed that casting has been completed. But one name comes up with more and more insistence: Jack Lowden.

It was British presenter Richard Osman who recently reignited speculation by claiming to know the name of the actor currently being considered. “The name I heard was Jack Lowden“, he explained in his podcast The Rest Is Entertainment. Before qualifying: “I’m not saying he definitely got the role. He’s definitely being considered. And I think he’d be great!“

At 36, Jack Lowden is best known for his role as River Cartwright in the spy series Slow Horses on Apple TV+. A CV particularly suited to donning the 007 costume, since he also played in Dunkirk, Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots And Ella McCay. He must also play Mr. Darcy in the next adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

Lowden is obviously not the only name circulating: Louis Partridge, and also Jacob Elordi, and Callum Turner are among the other favorites for the job currently. Unless production prefers a last minute surprise…
