Leonardo DiCaprio unrecognizable in the new Scorsese: first photos

Filming has just started in the Czech Republic, and the first photos have leaked online.

The first photos from Martin Scorsese’s next film have just leaked. And they have some surprises in store.

We can see Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, transformed for their respective roles. Filming began last week in the Czech Republic, notably in the town of Kolín.

Broadcast by the Czech media Blesk, the images reveal an unrecognizable DiCaprio: black padded jacket, white shirt, dark pants, glasses… and above all a thick mustache, which gives him an appearance far removed from his usual appearances. Opposite him, Jennifer Lawrence appears in a more subdued register: long light brown coat, beige turtleneck and black skirt. In some photos, the actress also wears a hat, which she removes in other photos taken on set.

This new project, entitled What Happens at Nightmarks Scorsese’s return behind the camera after Killers of the Flower Moon. This is also the seventh collaboration between the filmmaker and his favorite actor (after Gangs of New York, Aviator, THE Infiltrators, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street and of course Killers of the Flower Moon.)

For Jennifer Lawrence, on the other hand, this is her first collaboration with the legend of American cinema. The actress nevertheless finds DiCaprio, with whom she already shared the poster of Don’t Look Up by Adam McKay for Netflix in 2021.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Peter Cameron, the film tells the story of a married couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby. When they arrive, they settle into a huge, almost deserted hotel. But the situation quickly changes when they come across a gallery of characters as strange as they are disturbing: a flamboyant singer, a depraved businessman or even a charismatic healer. Little by little, the couple understands that they have ventured into a very strange place…

The film is directed by Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Patrick Marber.

In the cast, DiCaprio and Lawrence also opposite Mads Mikkelsen, Jared Harris and Patricia Clarkson.
