The Banshees of Inisherin director returns with Wild Horse Nine: trailer

Martin McDonagh, multiple Oscar nominees and to whom we also owe 3 Billboards and Bons Baisers de Bruges, directs Sam Rockwell and John Malkovich in a spy comedy in Chile.

Four years later The Banshees of Inisherin9 times nominated for the Oscars (but without an award upon arrival), Martin McDonagh is back with Wild Horse Ninea new dark comedy produced by Searchlight Pictures. The trailer has just been posted online (see below).

The English director reunites with Sam Rockwell, whom he had already led to the Oscar (Best Supporting Role) with 3 Billboards: the panels of revenge (2019).

The film, whose pitch had remained secret until now, takes place shortly before the Chilean coup d’état of 1973. CIA agents Chris and Lee are sent from Santiago to Easter Island by their superior, MJ. On site, among the famous statues, the two longtime partners must confront their troubled pasts and ongoing conspiracies, while Chris’s budding bond with two rebellious students threatens to topple the group’s already fragile balance.

In the cast, alongside Sam Rockwell, we will find John Malkovich. They will play the two agents, while Steve Buscemi will play their superior. We will also see Mariana Di Girolamo, Ailín Salas, Tom Waits and Parker Posey.

A rather heterogeneous ensemble but perfectly in the tone of Martin McDonagh, who exploded with Good Kisses from Bruges (in 2009).

Wild Horse Nine will be released on November 4, 2026 in cinemas in France.
