What does the 32nd edition of the Gérardmer festival have in store for us?

Which fantastic films will be rewarded by its two presidents of the juries: Vimala Pons and Emma Benestan?

THE Gérardmer festival will take place this year from January 29 to February 2. Centered on genre cinemathe films in competition for the feature film category have been revealed. On the program, a lot of fear, ghosts, and also a lot of viruses and pandemics. This is notably the subject of the Franco-Belgian film by director Thibault Emin, Else.

This year, two women will be the presidents of the juries: Vimala Pons And Emma Benestan. “Two unclassifiable figures, if not now essential, of contemporary French seventh art”notes the festival management.

Vimala Pons is an actress, circus artist, musician and director. Recently, he was seen both in a race against death with Vincent must die and in a romantic comedy with The Beautiful Rolealongside William Lebghil. She is also familiar with fantasy cinema, as evidenced by her roles in the Wild Boys And After Blue (Dirty Paradise) Bertrand Mandico.

Emma Benestan is a director and screenwriter. She established herself in the landscape of French genre cinema with her second feature film Animalpresented last May at Critics’ Week in Cannes.

This Thursday, the Gérardmer festival unveiled its complete program, including the short films competing for the competition and the members of the jury. To accompany Vimala Pons, we find in particular the DJ and producer Vladimir Nightmareor even William Lebghil. The makeup artist Olivier Afonso and the actor Theo Cholbi will be members of the jury for the short films category.

On the program, lots of other horrific events such as film screenings Dance of death by Antonio Margheriti, Ghosts vs. Ghosts by Peter Jackson or Enter the VOID by Gaspar Noé, during “The Offbeat Night”. A round table is also organized around the theme of “The art of special effects at the heart of fantasy”.

THE International Fantasy Film Festival will open with Companion by Drew Hancock, a new kind of love story. Please don’t feed the Childrenthe first film by Destry Allyn Spielberg (Steven Spielberg’s daughter), will close the event.
