Eva Green joins season 3 of Wednesday

The French actress will play a major role: that of Aunt Ophelia, often mentioned in season 2 and who will finally arrive in the next chapter…

Reunion for Tim Burton and Eva Green!

The French actress arrives in Wednesday. The former James Bond Girl from Casino Royale joins the cast of the hit Netflix gothic comedy, and she will have a major role, as a regular character in season 3: she will play the mysterious Aunt Ophelia.

Teased throughout season 2 and particularly in the last moments of the finale, Ophelia has been feeding all possible theories for months. Some fans even thought that Lady Gaga’s character, Rosalyn Rottwood, might actually be Ophelia. The casting of Eva Green therefore definitively puts an end to speculation.

Who is Ophelia Frump?

Ophelia Frump is the sister of Morticia Addams, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones. Confined by their mother Hester Frump (played by Joanna Lumley) at Willow Hill before escaping from the mental hospital, Ophelia has long been a ghost in the series’ mythology.

At the end of season 2, Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) discovers her diary, offered by Morticia, and receives a vision: a woman with long blond hair, crown of flowers, almost ethereal. But the vision turns into a nightmare when Ophelia appears locked in a cell in Hester’s mansion, dressed in a red dress, writing on the walls in blood: “Wednesday must die.”

Eva Green says she is already delighted to join the Addams family:

“I’m thrilled to join Wednesday’s deliciously twisted world as Aunt Ophelia,” said Eva Green. “This series is such a deliciously dark and witty universe. I can’t wait to add my own little twist to it.”

She will thus reunite with Tim Burton, who has already directed her three times in the cinema: in Dark Shadows (2012), in Miss Peregrine and the Peculiar Children (2016) and in Dumbo (2019).

Season 3 of Wednesday does not yet have a date.
