Francis Ford Coppola remembers Robert Duvall: “Such a great actor…”

The director posted a tribute to the actor who died yesterday, and with whom he had filmed on numerous occasions.

The death of Robert Duvall this Monday at the age of 95 caused great emotion in Hollywood.

Last night, it was Francis Ford Coppola who paid tribute to him on Instagram, saluting the man he considered one of his essential traveling companions.

“What a shock to learn of the loss of Robert Duvall. Such a great actor and a centerpiece of American Zoetrope (his production company) since its beginnings: The Rain People, Secret conversation, The Godfather, The Godfather, Part 2, Apocalypse Now, THX1138, Assassination Tango.”

The filmmaker recalled that they had collaborated on seven feature films, an extremely rare fidelity in the history of American cinema. A collaboration that earned Robert Duvall two Oscar nominations and a Golden Globe.
