Retirement home: what is the relationship between the film and the series?
Kev Adams is no longer at the center of the story, but Chantal Ladesou, Daniel Prévost, Liliane Rovère, Firmine Richard and Enrico Macias are back.
It’s a saga with almost 4 million entries in France!
The Retirement Home reopens its doors on TF1 this Monday evening, but in a new version. No Retirement Home 3, but a spin-off series. A television sequel that puts Kev Adams aside to focus on the residents of the “Lino Vartan” home. Because yes, we will find most of the former residents of Mimosas (the house of the first film) and those of the sequel there.
Almost two years after the release of Retirement Home 2, this six-episode spin-off presents a new story with a new central figure: Adèle, played by Stefi Celma. A new character – absent from the films – who takes over from Milann. Because Kev Adams co-wrote, co-produced and co-directed the series, but he only appears in the first episode before handing over. We learn that his character is incarcerated, then that he disappears.
While promoting the series, Kev Adams explained that he did not want to make Nursing Home 3, believing that a third film focusing on Milann and her relationship with the elderly would have ended up becoming redundant. The television sequel therefore places more emphasis on the stories of the residents, while leaving the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Milann, one of the main threads of this first season.
Several actors therefore reprise the roles they already played in the films. We will find Chantal Ladesou (the colonel), Daniel Prévost (Alfred), Liliane Rovère (Sylvette), Firmine Richard (Fleurette), Enrico Macias (Rico), Michel Jonasz (Albert) and even Claudette Walker (Marguerite). The six episodes allow us to explore in more depth the past of these colorful retirees.
Fiction also introduces new faces. In addition to Adèle, who takes charge of the establishment in Milann’s absence, we will discover Manon Giraud-Balasuriya (Inès), Aboubacar Bidanessy (Badou) and Maleaume Paquin (Jules), three young people in reintegration responsible for helping the residents.
Retirement home, the series, to be seen this evening on TF1.
