2026 Oscars set for Marvel and Best Friends reunions

The producers of the ceremony begin to reveal the menu for the evening.

The 2026 Oscars will take place on the night of Sunday to Monday. We will notably follow the announced duel between Sinners And One battle after anotherthe two films receiving the highest number of nominations (16 and 13, respectively).

But the Academy Awards are also a big American-style show, with its host (Conan O’Brien again this year) and celebrities galore. During a press conference, producers Katy Mullan and Raj Kapoor teased several highlights, including a reunion of Marvel stars as well as the reunion of the cast of My best friends (Bridesmaids).

“We have a huge meeting scheduled. There have been rumors around this, and we are very happy to announce that there will be a reunion Bridesmaid which will be very special.”

Paul Feig’s comedy is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, and the 2026 Oscars will benefit from the presence of Rose Byrne, nominated for an Oscar for best actress for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You (photo below), to bring her on stage with Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy, according to Variety.

“There will also be a Marvel meeting for superhero fans,” also revealed Katy Mullan. Probably with actors from the mega blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday. “So we will have superhero movie stars, and there will also be an alien on stage. I’ll let you guess which one.”

The two producers were also questioned about the In Memoriam sequence, dedicated to deaths that have marked the industry, which promises to be busy this year after the disappearances of Hollywood legends like Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Robert Redford, Rob Reiner, Val Kilmer and Catherine O’Hara.

“It’s been a really difficult year, so we’ve been talking about it for months. We take it very seriously. We hope this tribute will touch people and do justice to the incredible people we lost this year.”

Regarding musical performances, the 2026 Oscars will focus on two sequences, one dedicated to Sinners and another to the animated film K-Pop: Demon Hunters : “The goal is to highlight two films that have had a big impact in the world. We collaborated with the teams of the two films and it will also be about celebrating the animation, the film music, the song and even the visuals”.

Finally, it should be noted that the ceremony will be under high security after the FBI alerted about the possible Iranian drone attack targeting California.

The 2026 Oscars will be followed on the night of Sunday March 15 to Monday March 16, in France on Disney Plus.
