Nintendo brings Star Fox to Super Mario Galaxy the Movie
But what is Fox McCloud doing in this story?
There will be surprises in Super Mario Galaxy, the movie.
And Universal has just revealed one of them: Fox McCloud, the hero of the video game saga Star Foxwill also be in the film. What does this have to do with Mario and Luigi? Nothing direct, since the characters never really cross paths in their respective adventures. On the other hand, they fight in this other Nintendo game Super Smash Bros.a multiplayer fighting game.
It is Glen Powell who will voice the character in the original version.
The Hollywood actor, currently starring in The Ultimate Heir at the cinema, announced it in a fun little video posted on his Instagram:
Remember that Donald Glover will lend his to the famous green dinosaur Yoshi in the original version. We will also hear Luis Guzmán (Wednesday), who will make Wart, a giant Machiavellian toad, the main antagonist of the game Super Mario Bros. 2. And Issa Rae (Insecure) will double as the Honey Queen, a giant bee that appeared in the game Super Mario Galaxy.
Chris Pratt will return to double Mario, who this time is preparing to go into space. Several voices from the first film return: Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad) and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek).
The sequel will also introduce new characters: Benny Safdie in the role of Bowser Jr. and Brie Larson in that of Princess Rosalina, who appeared for the first time in the video game Super Mario Galaxy released in 2007.
Super Mario Galaxy, the movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. Its theatrical release is scheduled in France on April 1, 2026.
