Impossible to escape ancient curses: John Hannah will make his return in The Mummy 4.
The actor, unforgettable erudite thief in The Mummy (1999) and its two sequels, will dive back into the tombs alongside Brendan Fraser, the daredevil adventurer of the saga. The former of Four Weddings and a Funeral will return to play Rachel Weisz’s brother. Suffice to say that the trio is reformed for this highly anticipated reboot.
Behind the camera, the duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett to whom we owe Ready or Not and its sequel Ready or Not 2: Here I Comewill direct this new episode on a script by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan). On the production side, the faithful Sean Daniel, involved since the 1999 film, is back once again.
Produced by Universal Pictures, The Mummy 4 will be seen in cinemas on May 17, 2028 in France.
The details of the plot are currently being kept “under wraps”, but the return of Weisz is particularly anticipated. Absent from the third opus of 2008 (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor), the actress will finally return to the universe that she helped to popularize at the turn of the 2000s.
Launched in 1999, the saga of The Mummy had generated nearly $1.8 billion at the worldwide box office, including The Return of the Mummy, The Scorpion Kingthe third film and 2017’s aborted attempt at Dark Universe.
