Season 2 of the Harry Potter series is already in preparation

To keep the pace, HBO production has no choice: it must continue and follow a precise plan.

Not yet broadcast but already planned for many years.

The future Harry Potter series is moving as quickly as the Hogwarts Express: season 2 is already being written.

It was Casey Bloys, boss of HBO, who confirmed this in the British press. In an interview with the Times, he explains that he wants to avoid too long a hiatus between seasons:

“Our goal is not to have a huge gap, especially as the kids get older. It won’t be annual – the show is too massive – but season 2 is being written right now.”

Understand: we won’t be able to release one season per year. But we won’t be far from it.

Because timing will be essential to the success of this Harry Potter reboot. The project is very ambitious, conceived as a faithful adaptation of the work of JK Rowling, supposed to cover the seven novels, with one season per book. An XXL ambition which requires precise planning, to prevent the site from getting bogged down halfway. The series must continue, to be able to offer fans the rest of the story without letting it drag on too much. Also to not let his actors grow before the characters. Time is running out now that filming has started. And we will remember that the 8 Harry Potter films were filmed in a very tight schedule: ten years (between 2000 and 2010), allowing the films to be released in cinemas at a dream rate, between 2001 and 2011. A pace that the series hopes to reproduce.

The first season of the Harry Potter series will be released at Christmas 2026 on HBO Max in France. We therefore understand that season 2 should not be released at Christmas 2027 but around spring 2028.
