The actor, seen in Two Pianos by Arnaud Desplechin last year at the cinema, will be starring in a major Anglo-Saxon production for the Amazon MGM studio.
In A Tale of Two Cities. François Civil will respond to Kit Harington. They will be the heroes of this new adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, alongside Scottish actress Mirren Mack, all three at the heart of a love triangle as intense as it is tragic. We discover the first images today.
Adapted from one of the most famous novels in English literature, A Tale of Two Cities promises a powerful romantic fresco, between impossible love, revolution and sacrifice.
This will be the first major role in English for François Civil, who has a good command of the language of Shakespeare and had already participated in English-language productions before his career took off.
Synopsis: London, 1782. Lucie Manette’s life changes overnight when a messenger appears out of nowhere and tells her that her father, whom she thought had been dead for eighteen years, is indeed alive in Paris. Very quickly, the man is accused of espionage, leaving the young woman no other choice than to join forces with a lawyer who is as brilliant as he is tormented to exonerate him. Embroiled in the whirlwind of history, their destinies irremediably intertwine between London and Paris even as the whole of France is on the verge of going up in flames.
