Amazon assumes “taking its time” to choose the next James Bond

The American press puts forward a new name for the next James Bond

Meet Tom Francis, a young lead who ticks a lot of boxes…

It’s a nice publicity stunt from an agent: a new actor has just entered the dance of the next James Bond 26. While the casting of the future 007 continues to fuel all the rumors in Hollywood, the American press is now putting forward an unexpected name: that of Tom Francis.

According to information from Variety, the 26-year-old British actor recently auditioned to don the tuxedo of cinema’s most famous secret agent. A casting process still ongoing, supervised by casting director Nina Gold for Amazon MGM Studios.

Still largely unknown to the general public, Tom Francis was especially noticed on stage, at the West End then on Broadway, thanks to the event revival of the musical Sunset Boulevard directed by Jamie Lloyd, where he opposite Nicole Scherzinger. A performance which earned him an Olivier Award as well as a Tony Award nomination. His act in the streets of New York, filmed live in the middle of the theater district, had even become a small viral phenomenon.

On the screen side, his CV still remains thin. He was seen in Jay Kellywith George Clooney, while he will soon appear in The Mosquito Bowla sports drama set against the backdrop of World War II directed by Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsgård. He also made his television debut in the final season of You.

But whatever. We know that to become the new 007, it is better not to be too established a face. This is also what could play tricks on the current favorite: Jacob Elordi. Other names continue to circulate insistently to succeed Daniel Craig: Aaron Taylor-Johnson or even Callum Turner or even Louis Partridge.

James Bond 26 does not yet have a release date.
