Sylvester Stallone is preparing a chilling new series about a serial killer
It will be an adaptation of the novels The Fourth Monkey (4MK) by JD Barker.
After Tulsa King, Sylvester Stallone continues to develop his television projects.
The star of Rocky and Rambo will produce a new series adapted from the bestselling 4MK novels by JD Barker, around a particularly chilling serial killer.
The project will be developed with Channing Powell, screenwriter and producer known for her work on The Walking Dead franchise.
The future series will mainly adapt the first three novels in the saga: The Fourth Monkey (Le Quatrième Singe in French), The Fifth to Die and The Sixth Wicked Child. The story follows Detective Sam Porter in his hunt for the “Four Monkey Killer”, a methodical and elusive serial killer.
“For five years, “the four-sign killer” has been terrorizing the residents of Chicago. When he kidnaps his victims, before killing them, he always informs the family by sending them macabre clues. First there is an ear, then an eye and finally the tongue” details the synopsis of the novel.
In a press release, Stallone promises an ambitious and ultra-addictive noir series: “JD Barker has created an immense, dangerous universe, with relentless storytelling and a mythology perfect for a premium series. Channing Powell is an exceptional screenwriter and producer, with a rare mastery of dark, character-centered stories. She is exactly the right person to bring 4MK to the screen.”
The actor adds that the series has all the ingredients of a big international phenomenon: “It’s the kind of project that not only attracts viewers… it completely sucks them in.”
Same enthusiasm from JD Barker, who describes his work as “a relentless psychological experience” where each revelation becomes darker than the previous one. The writer believes that Stallone and his team immediately saw the franchise potential of the project.
Channing Powell will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Stallone will produce through Balboa Productions with D. Matt Geller.
No release date has yet been announced for 4MK.
