Trailer for the new animated Star Wars: The Ninth Jedi

Lucasfilm extends the universe of Star Wars: Visions with this new animated series which will be released this summer on Disney+.

After the short films, time for a real series.

Lucasfilm took advantage of Anime Expo 2026, organized in Los Angeles, to unveil the first trailer for Star Wars: Visions which will be called The Ninth Jedi, a new 8-episode animated series produced by Production IG

This time, Star Wars: Visions changes format. With the Star Wars: Visions present collection, Lucasfilm wants to develop some of the most popular stories from the anthology over several episodes. The Ninth Jedi is thus the first to be entitled to this treatment.

The plot picks up shortly after the events of the short films The Ninth Jedi and The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope. There we find Lah Kara, who continues her Jedi apprenticeship with Margrave Juro. Accompanied by a group of young Jedi, she will set off in search of her father during an adventure that could well seal the future of the Order.

The series is directed by Shunsuke Tada, from a screenplay by Mitsuyasu Sakai, while Kenji Kamiyama, creator of the original short film, supervises the animation.

Star Wars: Visions: The Ninth Jedi will be available from August 5 on Disney+.
