The shooting of the film The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum has officially started. For the occasion, Warner Bros. has revealed a first behind-the-scenes video showing Andy Serkis taking on the features of Gollum, the famous Hobbit consumed by his obsession.

This short clip shows the actor on set looking through the script before asking a production assistant: “Where do we start?“Immediate response:”Scene 1, the beginning. This is a very good starting point!” Wearing his motion capture suit, Andy Serkis then slips into Gollum’s characteristic posture, crouching, shoulders hunched and face distorted by his animal grin. To the cry of “ Action ! “, the video ends with a spectacular aerial shot of the New Zealand mountains, where filming is currently underway.

For this new chapter in the saga, Andy Serkis is not content to find his emblematic character. He is also directing the feature film, expected in French theaters on December 15, 2027.

They will be joined by Kate Winslet, who will play Marigol, Jamie Dornan in the role of Strider, Leo Woodall in that of Halvard, as well as Anya Taylor-Joy, announced in the role of an elf.
