Spider-Noir already canceled: no season 2 for Nicolas Cage
Despite great reviews and 11 Emmy nominations, the black and white Marvel series is ending, just three months after its launch.
It’s already over for Nicolas Cage in the Spider-Noir universe.
Prime Video’s Marvel series has just been canceled by Amazon, after a single season of eight episodes, just over three months after its streaming launch.
The series stars Nicolas Cage in the role of Ben Reilly, a disillusioned private detective living in New York in the 1930s. After a personal tragedy, he found himself forced to delve into his past and his former identity as Spider, the city’s only superhero.
Adapted from a character who first appeared in Marvel comics, Spider-Noir mixed film noir and superheroes, with Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson in the cast.
The series does not lack argument, however. A bold declaration of love for the noir films of the 1940s, it has more than 90% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. A Marvel variant acclaimed by critics, but visibly little followed by fans.
The cancellation comes at a rather paradoxical moment for the series: Spider-Noir has just received 11 nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards, notably in the categories of artistic direction, prosthetic makeup, visual effects and stunt coordination and performance. She will know – during the Creative Arts Emmys 2026 – on September 5 and 6 in Los Angeles if she will go out through the front door.
