After their phenomenon tour, the Gallagher brothers give themselves a standing ovation in Venice

Oasis at the Mostra, it still looks great!

Oasis made the walls shake again.

After having signed one of the most spectacular comebacks in recent rock history with their tour Oasis Live ’25Liam and Noel Gallagher arrived this weekend at the Venice Film Festival to present their documentary Don’t Look Back in Anger. And the least we can say is that they were received with honors: the film received an 8-minute standing ovation.

In the Palazzo del Cinema room, the atmosphere was more like an Oasis concert than a festival screening. The spectators applauded the numerous live extracts from the documentary and some even sang in chorus Champagne Supernovauntil you have tears in your eyes.

At the end of the screening, Liam and Noel Gallagher were greeted by a real clamor. The two brothers, visibly unaccustomed to the codes of film festivals, first held hands before raising their arms in victory. Noel even seemed to wipe away a few tears while Liam warmed up the room.

And then Liam visibly started to find the time taking a long time. As the ovation continued, the singer looked at his watch before miming a “Should we fuck off?” (“Are we breaking up?”). The screenwriter of the film, Steven Knight – creator of Peaky Blinders – would have finally convinced him to stay. Bad idea for the security of the room: when the Gallagher brothers went down into the audience to sign autographs, the cinema turned into a mini-pogo, spectators rushing to get a photo or a signature.

Already on the red carpet, Gallagher mania had invaded Venice. Bucket hats, Oasis t-shirts and Manchester City jerseys were out, while fans chanted Nod And Wonderwall waiting for the two brothers. When they arrived, directly through the cinema entrance rather than by car at the start of the red carpet, screams immediately rang out. Dressed all in black, Liam and Noel signed autographs separately before meeting up for official photographs, going so far as to hold hands again.

Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, Don’t Look Back in Anger looks back on the spectacular tour Oasis Live ’25which marked the reunion of Liam and Noel after years of separation. The documentary contains images filmed on stage and behind the scenes, but above all a joint interview with the two brothers, the first in more than twenty years.

The film will be shown in IMAX theaters on September 9 then on September 11 in other theaters in France, before being available later exclusively on Disney+.

A release which comes after a tour which confirmed that, despite their years of estrangement, the Oasis machine was still capable of running at full speed: 2.23 million spectators for 36 concerts and 405.4 million dollars in revenue.
