A live-action Fast & Furious series officially ordered
Vin Diesel’s automobile saga will land on the small screen. The series is hoped for 2028, in parallel with the release of Fast Forever.
The family is on the small screen.
As the film saga prepares to return to the garage, Fast & Furious will be available as a television series.
The project, announced in development at NBCUniversal, has therefore just reached a new milestone: it has just been officially commissioned by the studio, for streaming on its Peacock platform (which does not exist in France).
Vin Diesel will executive produce alongside Sam Vincent for One Race, Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty for Original Film, as well as Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan. The latter obviously knows the Toretto family well since he wrote several scenarios for the franchise.
At the helm, Mike Daniels (Sons of Anarchy, Shades of Blue, The Rockford Files) and Wolfe Coleman (Shades of Blue, 9-1-1: Lone Star) will serve as showrunners, pilot writers and executive producers.
So what will it be about?
For the moment we don’t know anything about it. We imagine that there will be new characters. But will Dom Toretto or a secondary character from the films be used to make the connection?
Remember that a first television experience had already seen the light of day with Fast & Furious: The Spies in the Race, a Netflix animated series broadcast for six seasons between 2019 and 2021. Its hero was Tony Toretto, the young cousin of Dominic Toretto.
Note that Peacock is aiming for broadcast in 2028, which could allow the series to accompany the release of Fast Forever, the next and final feature film in the saga, currently announced in theaters on March 17, 2028.
Last May, Vin Diesel announced no less than four series from the Fast & Furious universe. This first order could therefore be only the beginning of the television expansion of the Toretto family.
