Johnny Depp Against the Ghosts: Scrooge trailer
The old Jack Sparrow has a blast in a spectacular, gothic version of the Charles Dickens classic, directed by Ti West.
Johnny Depp is back in Hollywood, and he plans to have fun.
Paramount Pictures unveils spectacular trailer for Scrooge (Ebenezer in the United States), new adaptation ofA Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, in which the actor enjoys playing one of the most famous cheapskates in literature.
“To change his future, he will relive his past”warns the studio with the video. A promise that sets the tone for this rereading by Ti West, the director of the horror trilogy X. Here, Dickens’s tale takes a frankly gothic turn, with Ebenezer Scrooge haunted by particularly disturbing ghosts, confronted with his own death and even buried alive.
The official pitch summarizes this new version in a few words: “The name you know, the story you don’t.” And according to the trailer, Ti West mainly intends to explore the darker side of the original story.
For Johnny Depp, Scrooge above all marks an important return to a major Hollywood production. The actor had not headlined a film produced by a major American studio since Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwaldreleased in 2018. He was then excluded from the third part, Dumbledore’s Secretsreleased in 2022, before filming mainly outside the major Hollywood studios.
He will soon return to Hollywood a second time with Day Drinkera Lionsgate thriller in which he will notably star alongside Madelyn Cline and Penélope Cruz, expected in March 2027.
Waiting for, Scrooge also features Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen.
Scrooge will be released in France in cinemas on November 11, 2026.
