Léa Seydoux faces the unspeakable in Gentle Monster: trailer
Marie Kreutzer’s film, presented at Cannes last May, will arrive on Netflix in the United States in November, but will await a cinema release in France in early 2027.

This is the question at the heart of Gentle Monsternew film by Austrian director Marie Kreutzer with Léa Seydoux and Catherine Deneuve.
Presented in official competition at Cannes last May, the feature film shot in English, French and German, is revealed today in a chilling trailer (below).
The synopsis details: “Lucy and Philip are happy, they have just moved with their son to a country house near Munich. One morning, their lives are turned upside down when the police come to their home to arrest Philip and seize his computers. Upset, Lucy seeks the truth about her husband. Who is he really? Should she take him away from her son?“
Léa Seydoux plays Lucy, opposite Catherine Deneuve, who plays her mother. Laurence Rupp plays Philip, her husband, while Jella Haase plays the investigator in charge of the case.
The film has different distribution depending on the territory. In the United States, Gentle Monster is a Netflix movie and will be released first in select US theaters on October 30, 2026 (limited release). This is also the platform which unveils the first trailer today. The film will be available immediately from November 18 for American subscribers.
In France, on the contrary, the film will go to theaters. Ad Vitam will distribute to cinemas on January 13, 2027.
