A new Bridgerton series dedicated to Lady Violet ordered by Netflix
After Queen Charlotte, Netflix will explore the youth of Lady Violet. The limited series will tell her love story with Edmund Bridgerton, the future Viscount.
We go back to the Bridgerton past.
Netflix and Shondaland have just ordered a new spin-off from the universe created by Shonda Rhimes, this time dedicated to the youth of Lady Violet Bridgerton.
The series does not yet have an official title but should however follow the formula of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Chapter, which could logically give birth to a Lady Violet: A Bridgerton Chapter. But nothing is confirmed yet.
Shonda Rhimes will be at the helm with Nicholas Nardini, producer of Queen Charlotte and screenwriter of Scandal. Both will be showrunners, writers and executive producers of this new series.
Tom Verica, Rhimes’ loyal collaborator, will direct the episodes and will also serve as executive producer. He had already worked on Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte, but also on Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal. Betsy Beers, another historic partner of Shondaland, will also serve as executive producer.
The story will take place well before the events of the main series and will tell the story of Violet’s young years, as well as her romance with Edmund Bridgerton, the man who will become her husband and the father of her children.
In Bridgerton, Lady Violet is played by Ruth Gemmell. In Queen Charlotte, her teenage version was played by Connie Jenkins-Greig. It is currently unknown whether the latter will reprise her role in the new spin-off, or if other characters from the universe will return.
Meanwhile, Bridgerton season 5 is currently filming in London. It will center on Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza).
