Netflix could cut 5% of its jobs worldwide
The streaming giant is reportedly preparing a major restructuring that could affect around 800 positions.
Netflix is reportedly preparing to cut its workforce.
According to Puck News, the platform is preparing a new wave of layoffs which could affect around 5% of its employees worldwide. The announcement could come in the coming days, according to anonymous sources cited by the American media.
Contacted by Variety, a Netflix spokesperson declined to comment on this information. The departments that would be most affected by this restructuring are not yet known.
At the end of 2025, Netflix had approximately 16,000 full-time employees. A reduction of 5% would therefore represent nearly 800 jobs lost. As of December, about 68% of the company’s workforce, or some 10,900 people, was based in the United States and Canada.
The last major wave of layoffs at Netflix dates back to 2022. At the time, the platform had eliminated around 450 positions after announcing a net loss of 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter, a first in more than ten years. The company has since made several smaller headcount reductions, including letting go of several dozen members of its international product team in 2026.
For now, Netflix has not officially confirmed any layoffs. But we know that the streaming market will very soon be turned upside down by a new major player born from the merger between HBO Max and Paramount+, which will become the runner-up to the N Rouge service within a year.
