The trailer for the new Baywatch will make your hair tick

Low-cut red swimsuits, people running on the beach and the legendary music that sounds the alert in Malibu: everything is already there in this first trailer.

A good nostalgia shot to start the day: the new Baywatch has just revealed its long trailer.

After a few teasers which highlighted the new sexy lifeguards frolicking on the beaches of the Pacific, the American channel Fox put online the long trailer which says a lot about the history of this Californian resurrection.

In this new version, Stephen Amell (Arrow) plays Hobie Buchannon, who takes up the mantle of his legendary father, Mitch, the lifeguard played by David Hasselhoff in the original series. And the boy is not afraid: from the first images, a plane crashes into the ocean (right), a few meters from the swimmers, and Hobie and his team rush to save the passengers. All while walking in slow motion on the beach, of course, like Dad taught him.

If David Hasselhoff does not appear (for the moment, this is not planned), his name is displayed on an image showing a (dubious?) hunting table counting the rescues made by the team. And the record holder is called Mitch, far ahead of the competition, with 263 rescues in all. We don’t know if the producers had fun counting by reviewing episodes from the past 11 seasons, but the former beach boss is still 130 heroic moments ahead of his offspring. A fun way to show that Hobie and Stephen Amell are still far from equaling the master of red shorts. For the wink, number 2 in the ranking is none other than Greg Bonann, a former real lifeguard from Malibu, who had the idea for the series (he is the original co-creator). There are also some names known to fans, like Jessie Owens (played by Brooke Burns) or April Giminski (Kelly Packard), former naiads from Malibu. Moreover, the latter has been announced in the casting and will make her return with several other former figures from the show, including David Chokachi (in the role of Cody Madison) and Erika Eleniak (aka Shauni McClain).

But there’s more to life than just rescues. After this spectacular opening, Hobie will see his daughter he never knew, Charlie Vale (Jessica Belkin), arrive on his doorstep. “I’m from Texas. I’m your biological daughter. Does that mean anything to you?” she asks him in the video, before specifying that she is not looking for money or a father, but simply a job. “Are you a lifeguard?”

The young woman also wants to join Baywatch and follow in the footsteps of the Buchannon family. A prospect that worries his father, well aware of the dangers of the profession.

Around the father/daughter duo, the new team will be made up of supporting roles with ideal physiques: Hassie Harrison in the role of Nat, Shay Mitchell as Trina, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Noah Beck as Luke and Brooks Nader as Selene. Livvy Dunne will make her acting debut in the recurring role of Grace.

In short, we will see XXL first aid, complicated relationships, a good dose of Californian drama… All bathed in the cult and essential music of Baywatch: “I’m Always Here” – performed by Jimi Jamison, formerly of the group Survivor – is always there!

The new Baywatch will debut next January on Fox in the United States. No broadcast date or French broadcaster have yet been announced, although an arrival on Disney+ is possible, since the series will also be on the Hulu platform across the Atlantic.
