French box office: French comedies chase Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt retains the lead with Heart of the Beast, but Kev Adams and Élie Semoun are just behind after a good start. Meanwhile, Tom Cruise continues to drop out.
Brad Pitt has fangs!
Third week at the top of the French box office for Heart of the Beast. The adventure film retains first place with 290,000 additional tickets sold in 750 theaters and crosses the million mark. In total, 1.17 million spectators have already followed the adventures of Brad Pitt and his dog in France. A rather unexpected success, which owes a lot to the film’s attendance in the provinces: 82% of its audience is outside Île-de-France, compared to 75% on average for other films.
Digger was rather expected as the autumn phenomenon. It won’t. The very divisive film starring Tom Cruise fails to take off and falls to ninth place in the ranking. After two weeks, it displays less than 270,000 entries.
a House of our dreamsby Claude Zidi Jr, is already doing better after just one week. The comedy starring Kev Adams opposite Chantal Ladesou got off to a successful start and attracted 322,000 fans to its 570 theaters (including previews). It is just a head ahead of the other French comedy of the week: Ducobu and the Ghost of Saint-Potachewhich completes the podium.
The sixth opus of the franchise led by Élie Semoun brings together almost 230,000 fans in 606 theaters (including AVP). It is at the same level as Ducobu goes greenreleased in 2024, which attracted 240,000 spectators in its first week before ending its career at a million.
French films are definitely in good shape, since Our salvation follows right behind. Emmanuel Marre’s historic film attracted 180,000 additional spectators in 435 theaters and showed good stability, with a decline limited to 17%. After two weeks, it is already slowly approaching 500,000 entries.
Madder reached this milestone of half a million tickets after three weeks. Jeanne Herry’s film fell by only 9% from one week to the next and still attracted 140,000 additional spectators.
It’s more complicated for Isabelle Huppert. His comedy Neither seen nor known only starts at 130,000 admissions in 350 theaters.
It’s even worse for The Social Reckoning. The sequel to The Social Network, by Aaron Sorkin, does not even appear in the Top 10, with less than 80,000 admissions, despite wide distribution (243 copies). This is very, very far from the film by David Fincher which had achieved 484,000 admissions for its first week of release in 2010, ending up with almost 1.5 million.
Finally, the remake of resident Evil by Zach Cregger hits the million mark. For its fourth week at the French box office, the American horror film attracts another 133,000 additional curious people.
