Johnny Depp sows chaos in New York, dressed as Scrooge
Unrecognizable as Ebenezer, the star multiplied the provocations and the pranks under the eye of passers-by.
After having already made a notable appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, Johnny Depp is doing it again, this time on the East Coast.
The actor arrived yesterday at Bryant Park, in the heart of New York, dressed as Ebenezer Scrooge, to promote his next film, Scrooge.
In one video, he is seen grabbing cookies from a tray before throwing them on the ground, then scolding a man dressed as Santa: “Don’t touch my bell!“, he tells him.
In another excerpt, he faces a man who asks him to leave the premises: “I feel unpleasant“, he replies. “I feel bad.” He then sticks his tongue out at a group of Christmas carolers singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”, before ordering them to be quiet.
But Scrooge doesn’t stop there: armed with his cane, Depp pops balloons, sends Christmas tree decorations flying and even ends up knocking one over. “It wasn’t my fault“, he assures in another video, before launching: “Fuck off!“
Scrooge will also bring together Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen.
The film will be released in cinemas in France on November 11, 2026.
