Pierce Brosnan supports Callum Turner to become the next James Bond
The former 007 praised the qualities of the British actor, whom he knows personally…
The race for 007 is accelerating.
As the casting of the future James Bond approaches its conclusion, Pierce Brosnan has given his opinion on the actors expected to take over the most famous number in cinema. Asked by Vanity Fairthe former interpreter of the secret agent was particularly keen to highlight the potential of Callum Turner, with whom he shared the poster for Connections to New Yorkby Marc Webb (The Only Living Boy in New York) about ten years ago.
“I’m just a spectator of all this now. I’m simply a man in the street, impatient to discover who will play this legendary role in the history of cinema. All the men whose names are circulating these days are actors I admire. But Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s strong, very strong!“
Between the lines, the former spy GoldenEye assures that Callum Turner is cut out for the job. But Pierce Brosnan immediately confides that the other candidates still in the running (Jack Lowden, Josh O’Connor etc.) “all have a voice, a physique and a presence on screen. They all have long-term careers, all these young men.” And the 75-year-old actor concludes:
“Whoever lands the role, I wish them the best, strength and courage.“
The search for the successor to Daniel Craig, whose last appearance as 007 dates back to Dying can wait in 2021, is led by Amazon MGM Studios. The next film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, from a screenplay by Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders. Casting director Nina Gold oversees the auditions. For now, the studio has still not officially announced the name of the next James Bond.
According to a survey carried out by Première, the favorite of Internet users is, quite widely, Jack Lowden of Slow Horses.
