Obsession: Curry Barker wants to release a long version of his horror film
The director is planning an extended edition of around twenty minutes, with new scenes absent from the version released in theaters last May.
Fans ofObsession will perhaps be treated to a few extra thrills.
After the box office success of his horror film, Curry Barker would like to offer a long version, enriched with around twenty minutes of deleted scenes. Asked by Rolling Stonethe director confirmed that he had enough unseen footage to compose an extended edit. However, Barker does not question the version released in theaters this year. He even says he is very satisfied with the film editing, which he already considers to be his true director’s cut:
“I’m pretty happy with the current setup. There is nothing I would change with the images I have. But I would say that there is a longer version of the film that I would really like to release.“
This edition could therefore add around twenty minutes to the feature film, whose initial duration is 109 minutes:
“That would probably add another twenty minutes or so. But I have to say that the film you saw is already the director’s cut (director’s cut). I was able to do just about anything I wanted. So I’m pretty happy with this version.“
We still don’t know which scenes could be reinstated, and especially when this edition could see the light of day. Curry Barker has not announced a release date at this time.
Released in May 2026, Obsession was a huge success in theaters with more than $520 million in revenue.
