Carrie, 50 years old, still young!

Halloween, 1976, Brian de Palma defines the codes of the modern teen movie by adapting the original prose of Stephen King. Blood, tears, flames… Story.

Stephen King anticipated everything. On page 120 of the paperback edition of his first novel Carrie published in 1974, one of the heroines of the drama, Susan Snell, notes about the events occurring in her small town: “ Finally, they even made a film about it. I saw him last April. As I left the room, I almost vomited. Every time something big happens in America, they have to make marshmallow syrup out of it. This allows you to forget it. And perhaps it would be a bigger mistake than we imagine to forget Carrie White. » This supposedly vachard projection nevertheless has everything of a call from the foot of a young, still unknown and broke author calling on Hollywood to recover its material. It is also a lucid look at the way in which US cinema has always reshaped its national history as it wishes.
