A new dark and disturbing trailer for Clayface
DC dives into horror with Clayface, a chilling film that reveals a little more about its dripping universe.
Despite the failure of Supergirl at the box office, DC Studios continued its business and radically changed its tone.
Clayface confirms that James Gunn’s studio is preparing to explore the realm of horror, with a body horror that is as unhealthy as it is disturbing. The new trailer released online by Warner Bros. tells us the story of Matt Hagen, victim of a mysterious scientific experiment which gradually transforms his body. The images notably show his face distorting before a particularly disturbing sequence on board a plane, where he seems to completely lose control of his new abilities.
“Matt Hagen’s meteoric rise from Gotham street urchin to Hollywood star is abruptly cut short when a crime lord leaves him horribly disfigured. Abandoned by everyone and with nothing left to lose, Matt turns to an experimental treatment that miraculously restores his appearance… but profoundly alters his perception of reality. He then sinks into a destructive spiral, consumed by an irrepressible desire for revenge.” details the official synopsis.
Beyond its oppressive atmosphere, this teaser also reveals some clues about the future of the new DC universe and the new Gotham City where the plot will take place.
Intended as a true horror film more than a classic superhero film, Clayface promises to be one of the most atypical projects ever produced by DC. Mike Flanagan – creator of hit horror series like The Haunting of Hill House – also wrote the script.
Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, David Dencik, Nancy Carroll and Joshua James complete the cast.
Clayface will be released in cinemas on October 21 in France.
