Almighty Doom in New Avengers Doomsday Trailer

Taking advantage of D23, Disney unveiled a new video, which shows the powers and motivations of Doctor Doom, while the big bad played by Robert Downey Jr. prepares to face the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men…

“He was always the smartest man wherever he went…”

In the new trailer forAvengers: DoomsdaySue Storm, played by Vanessa Kirby, tries to understand what led Doctor Doom to become the threat he now represents. “I knew he was lost. But I didn’t realize he was broken”she continues, as the images begin to reveal the motivations of the powerful tyrant of Latveria.

Played by Robert Downey Jr., returning to the MCU after the death of Iron Man in Avengers: EndgameDoom appears here as an almost untouchable opponent. In front of him, Pedro Pascal, aka Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, finds himself confronted with his enemy in the middle of the rubble. For his part, Chris Hemsworth promises the tyrant that he “beg to go to hell” even before Thor granted it to him.

A threat that Doom takes with chilling calm. When Thor attempts to attack him with Stormbreaker, he blocks his blow before blasting the Norse god with a powerful beam of green energy. Then, in one of the most spectacular images of the trailer, he brings out an army of Sentinels, the famous robot enemies of the X-Men.

“Hell answers me. For I am Doom”then blurts out the character, summarizing in a few words the immense power that this new trailer lends him.

But above all, the trailer gives a new insight into Doom’s motivations. We notably see a painting representing his wife and daughter, suggesting that he was struck by their disappearance. These images, when juxtaposed with Sue Storm’s words about a “lost” and “broken” man, seem to suggest that the loss of his family is the root of Doom’s brokenness and desire to reshape the world in his image. An intimate motivation which could give a new dimension to the big villain ofAvengers: Doomsday.

Directed by the Russo brothers, Avengers: Doomsday is expected in French cinemas on December 16.
