Frozen 3: a wedding, Olaf in love and a mysterious villain in the first images

Six years after Frozen 2, Disney has finally opened the doors to Arendelle in D23. And between a marriage, a new threat and Olaf discovering love, a lot has happened.

It was time to defrost everything. Disney took advantage of its big D23 rally to unveil the first images of Frozen 3scheduled for the end of 2027. Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad (the original voices) were present to present the continuation of the adventures of Anna, Elsa and Olaf, and the studio began to release some information on the story.

The most important: Anna is going to marry Kristoff.

“Anna is finally going to marry her mountain man,” confirmed Kristen Bell on stage. The first images therefore show Arendelle in full wedding preparations, before the festivities obviously take a slightly less festive turn. A sort of butterfly made of ice appears and takes Elsa towards a strange and snowy place. Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven and Olaf venture there and end up coming across a woman whose face remains hidden.

The butterfly lands in his hand.

And she crushes him.

“We finally meet,” says the mysterious stranger to the two sisters, before Elsa shoots a bolt of magic at her. Disney has not revealed her name, nor the identity of the one who will lend her voice, but everything indicates that Anna and Elsa have found a new adversary. Idina Menzel simply warned that the gang would find themselves far from Arendelle, confronted with something “more wild and dangerous” than anything they had faced so far.

And while Elsa tries to sort out the kingdom’s supernatural problems, Olaf has apparently decided to sort out his love life. Josh Gad revealed on stage a new song, “Ooooh, Samantha”, dedicated to the snowman’s love quest. A name that will obviously raise eyebrows among those who remember Frozen 2 : lost in the enchanted forest, Olaf desperately called a certain Samantha… before remembering that he knew absolutely no Samantha.

Six years later, Disney transformed the joke into a romance. What we call making a valve profitable!

On the music side, however, there is no question of changing a team which has sold billions of “Liberated, Delivered”: Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez return to write the songs. Jennifer Lee, screenwriter and director of the first two films, is also back at the helm, this time with co-director, Trent Correy.

And Disney obviously sees further: a Frozen 4 is already in development. Jennifer Lee had also explained that the story imagined for this third part had become sufficiently ambitious to require two films.

In other words, Anna and Kristoff’s marriage is probably just the start of trouble. Anna is undoubtedly far from being “Liberated, delivered”.
