Anya Taylor-Joy joins The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum to play an elf!

The English actress will be on the new trip to Middle-earth expected at the end of 2027.

The distribution of Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum continues to gain momentum. After the announced returns of former emblematic faces of the saga, Warner Bros. confirmed the arrival of Anya Taylor-Joy in the cast.

The actress, revealed by The Queen’s Game on Netflix, will play Seren, a Sindar Elf from the Sylvan Kingdom. Described as a formidable and loyal agent of King Thranduil, she should play an important role in tracking down Gollum.

Directed by and with Andy Serkis, who reprises his legendary role of Gollum, the film will also mark the return of Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo and Lee Pace as King Thranduil.

Also among the new recruits are Kate Winslet, Jamie Dornan and Leo Woodall, who will make a young Aragorn.

Scheduled in cinemas in France for December 15, 2027, The Hunt for Gollum will take place in the years preceding the events of The Fellowship of the Ring. The story will follow the hunt for Gollum as Gandalf and Aragorn attempt to find the creature before Sauron’s servants. The project also marks the reunion of the Oscar-winning creative team behind the cult trilogy. Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Zane Weiner are all involved in the production.

For Anya Taylor-Joy, this is a major new collaboration with Warner Bros. after the universes of Mad Max For Furiosa and of Dune.
