Before becoming part of this new generation of rising Hollywood stars, Zendaya began her career on the small screen alongside the most famous mouse, Mickey Mouse. Just like Ryan Gosling, Selena Gomez and Zac Efron (with whom she plays in The Greatest Showman), the actress is a Disney Channel kid.

Between 2010 and 2013, she played the main role alongside Bella Thorne in the series Shake It Up. This allows her to show viewers her dancing and singing skills. In the podcast “Magical Rewind”hosted by Will Friedle and Sabrina Bryan, former Disney Channel casting director Cornelia Frame revealed that the actress Dune And Challengers had auditioned several times to play in another franchise of the channel: Descendants.

The former casting director did not specify which role Zendaya had auditioned for. Rejected for Descendantsthe actress finally bounced back by saying goodbye to Disney and signing for a completely different lucrative franchise: Spider-Man.

Since she played MJ, Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) girlfriend in Spider-Man: Homecomingthe doors of cinema opened before her. She shone and distinguished herself brilliantly on the small screen in the series Euphoria for which she won the 2023 Golden Globe for best actress in a drama series.

As for Descendantsbuilding on its success, Disney continued the adventure with four films, the latest of which, Descendants: The Rise of Red was released on July 12 on Disney+.
