Crimson Rivers cancelled, no season 3 for The School of Life and The Code
France 2 has cleaned up its fictions and is preparing yet another return to Do not do this, do not do that.
Five years after its launch, the crime series The Crimson Rivers ends on France 2. Season 4, broadcast last October, only attracted an average of 2.60 million viewers (12.4% of the public). Above all, Olivier Marchal is busy with other projects and France 2 does not want to continue the series without its headliner: “Sometimes you can’t replace the main actor of a series”, explains Anne Holmes, director of fiction for the channel in Le Parisien. The series, also worn by Erika Saintwill not have a season 5 in 2023. The Crimson Rivers therefore stops after 32 episodes.
Another canceled fiction, the school saga The school of lifearound Julie de Bona, enjoyed similar ratings for its season 2 in March. So, no season 3: “Young people do not recognize themselves in our school series, and the older ones are not interested in them”, insists Anne Holmes. Same hearings and same finding for the judicial series The code of which season 2, airing in January, will be the last.
On the other hand, the police series of the public channel have a future. Anne Holmes confirms new episodes ofAlex Hugo, Astrid and Raphaelle, Cassandra, The art of crime, Criminal Tropics, Captain marleau and others.
In addition, Anne Holmes reveals that France 2 is working on a new return of Do not do this, do not do that. After the 2020 Christmas event TV movie, which already marked a first comeback – after the end of the series in 2017 – the director of fiction promises a new event bonus in the process of being written. This time, the Lepics and Bouley are going to take part in a trip to space (yes, to the stars). Isabelle Gélinas, Valérie Bonneton, Bruno Salomone and Guillaume de Tonquédec will soon return to filming for broadcast in 2024.
