The filmmaker began his Netflix adventure in 2013 with House of Cardsof which he directed the first two episodes and which he also produced. Since then, the filmmaker has become one of the directors most closely associated with the platform. There have been films like Mank And The Killerbut also the series Mindhunterproducts for Netflix.

The news comes as several projects developed by Fincher for Netflix are already in an uncertain situation.
Its American spin-off Squid Gamewhich he was supposed to take care of, was notably abandoned by the platform this summer, while Netflix would have reoriented its projects around the franchise.
And this departure comes a few weeks before the release of his new film, The New Misadventures of Cliff Booth. Written by Quentin Tarantino, this new chapter in the universe of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood finds Brad Pitt in the role of stuntman Cliff Booth. The film will be released in IMAX on November 25, before arriving on Netflix on December 23.
It now remains to be seen what will happen to the other projects that David Fincher was developing for Netflix, notably the prequel series of Chinatown written by Robert Towne, or the western Bitterroot. And obviously, fans of Mindhunter risk looking at this separation with particular attention: could the series be resurrected elsewhere?
