28 years later: Nia DaCosta should direct the sequel
The director of the last Candyman is in the running to take over from Danny Boyle.
Almost 20 years later, 28 weeks later And 28 days later will be entitled to a sequel which will be called 28 years later. It is Danny Boyleat the origin of the first part, who will direct this new film, which should make it possible to launch a trilogy!
Sony Pictures has three feature films “28” in its sights and to make the sequel to 28 years laterthe studio would have set its sights on Nia DaCosta. No agreement has been concluded yet, specifies Deadline, but the filmmaker specializes in horror thrillers like Candyman (2021), to which we also owe the biggest flop in MCU history, The Marvels (2023), is currently in negotiations. Alex Garland will also write the screenplay and be producer, with Danny Boyle.
No date has been announced yet, but 28 years older late should go into production, with Danny Boyle, by the end of the year. The second film – by Nia DaCosta therefore – would be shot immediately afterwards, which explains why Sony wants to quickly sign a director.
No director has yet been announced for the third film which will conclude this new trilogy.
