Will Robert Downey Jr. be back in Fantastic Four?

Marvel is cultivating mystery around the Iron Man star’s comeback in the MCU.

If Captain America: Brave New World is the next MCU film on the list, we are mainly waiting to see Fantastic Fourwhich should mark a new major step in the saga. And the big question that tickles fans is whether Robert Downey Jr. will be.

Because the actorIron Manmegastar of the first Avengerswill make his return to the franchise, but now in the shoes of Victor Van Doom, aka Doctor Doom. We know that he will be the big villain ofAvengers: Doomsday in spring 2026. But will its new face be introduced this summer in Fantastic Four ? Indeed, Fatalis is the historic enemy of the quartet, the nemesis of Reed Richards. And it would make perfect sense for him to stop by to introduce himself before returning to Avengers: Doomsday.

But for now, Marvel is cultivating secrecy around its presence in Fantastic Four and the actor Ebon Moss-Bachrachwho will play The Thing, kept the mystery alive during his appearance at Jimmy Kimmel’s house. While the talk show host tried to pull the wool over his head, Moss-Bachrach remained impassive, joking and refusing any response: “This won’t happen. I won’t say anything. I followed rigorous training in Media Training so as not to reveal anything“.

The actor does not confirm anything, but does not deny either, leaving the mystery hanging. We really want to think that there is something fishy going on…

Fantastic Four is due to be released on July 23, 2025 in cinemas in France.
