Elon Musk puts online his version of The Odyssey, produced by AI

Grok Imagine has published a first 7-minute episode entirely generated by artificial intelligence. After the release of Nolan’s film, Elon Musk promised a “historically faithful” feature film, adapted from Homer…

Elon Musk also wants to tell The Odyssey.

Several months after announcing his intention to produce an adaptation entirely generated by artificial intelligence of Homer’s poem, the billionaire has just revealed a first preview. On Friday, a seven-minute episode produced with Grok Imagine, the image and video generation tool from his company xAI, was posted online on X (formerly Twitter). The publication also credits Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, two players specializing in AI-assisted audiovisual production, for their creative collaboration. This is currently an episode, and not the feature film promised by Musk.

No additional details accompanied the posting of this first episode. We therefore do not know whether the project will take the form of a feature film, as initially announced, or whether it will evolve into a series of several episodes.

In July, the boss of Tesla and SpaceX announced that Grok Imagine would be able to produce a complete film dedicated to the epic of Ulysses before the end of 2026. He promised a work “historically accurate and faithful to the art of Homer”.

An initiative marked by ideology, mixed with a certain commercial opportunism for the promotion of its own AI, while Elon Musk has criticized a lot The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan last summer. The billionaire particularly attacked certain casting choices, in particular the presence of Elliot Page in the role of Autre and Lupita Nyong’o in that of Helen of Troy.
