Audrey Fleurot becomes The Countess of Monte Cristo on TF1
What if Mercedes took her revenge? The HPI star plays the heroine of this loose adaptation of the Alexandre Dumas classic.
“Love led her to hell. Her revenge has only just begun.”
TF1 unveils the first images of The Countess of Monte Cristo, a fiction directed by Audrey Fleurot, which revisits the famous novel by Alexandre Dumas by placing Mercédès at the heart of the story.
The synopsis details: “Marseille, 1815. Mercédès Herrera is ready to do anything for the man she loves, Edmond Dantès, a sailor with a bright future. But their happiness is cruelly shattered by a merciless betrayal. Edmond, wrongly accused, is torn from Mercédès and thrown into the depths of the Château d’If, without hope of return. Devastated but determined, Mercédès sets out on a frantic race to save him, but Edmond is killed during their escape attempt and she herself finds herself locked up, condemned to languish in a cell next to the one who sheltered the love of her life, in this abyss of pain, Mercédès now has only one goal, to take revenge on those who destroyed her life: Fernand, her own cousin, secretly in love with her; of the city attorney.”
In this free and daring adaptation, Mercédès is no longer just the one waiting for the return of Edmond Dantès. She becomes the heroine of her own story, ready to do anything to make those who betrayed her pay. A feminine rereading of the revenge story imagined by Dumas.
Around the actress, the cast brings together Simon Ehrlacher, and also Zabou Breitman, Esteban Vial, Marysole Fertard, Kad Merad, Thierry Godard, Denis Lavant, Éric Elmosnino, Olivia Côte and Slimane Dazi.
The Countess of Monte Cristo will soon be broadcast on TF1 and TF1+. The channel has not yet communicated a precise broadcast date.
