Emily in Paris: What does the end of season 4 mean for season 5?
What if the series changed its name altogether? The creator talks about the sequel.
There’s not just Brigitte Macron in part 2 of season 4 ofEmily in Paris ! As promised in the trailer, the young woman went for a trip to Rome and the Dolce Vita really seduced her… Spoiler alert!
After a short period of happiness with Gabriel, the American woman ended up leaving him. For Alfie? But no, for Marcello! Who?!
In part 2, Emily discovers the joys of Roman life and falls under the spell of a handsome Italian who makes her completely forget Gabriel, the Capital, its pastries and Brigitte Macron… So much so that, when Sylvie offers her to supervise the Rome office, the brilliant communicator accepts. A temporary move she promises Mindy. However, at the end of season 4, Emily is no longer in Paris. Emily is in Rome !
A change of scenery that clearly suggests a change of title for season 5. But showrunner Andrew Fleming tempers this in EW: “Let’s say she’s in Rome for now. And I can’t say we’ll never go back to Paris… just that for the present and the near future, she’s in Rome.”
Above all, the producer confesses to not having “no news to sharer” about season 5, which was not ordered by Netflix.Nobody has. I think we’re hopeful that there will be more seasons. But it’s in Netflix’s hands right now.”
Creator Darren Starr is more open to the idea of leaving France for Italy, at least for a little while: “I feel like it just expands the universe of the show,” he confides to TVLine.
“Just when Emily is feeling comfortable in Paris, she’s kind of thrown into another country where she’s going to experience some cultural differences. And also, I think there are cultural differences to explore – and we do – between the French and the Italians. It’s going to be a whole new world… but that doesn’t mean we’re really leaving Paris.”
Indeed, if there is a season 5, it will not be without Sylvie and the others. And even less without Gabriel. Will he try to go to Italy to get his fiancée back? “I don’t know if it’ll be as simple as showing up at his door. It might be more complicated than that…”
