First image of The Curse, Benny Safdie’s series with Emma Stone
The first episodes of this satirical comedy will be unveiled at the New York festival in the fall.
On the occasion of the announcement of the selection of the New York Film Festival, which will be held from September 29 to October 15, the production company A24 unveiled the first image of The Curseseries interpreted by Emma Stone, Nathan Fielder (acclaimed across the Atlantic for his HBO series The Rehearsal) and Benny Safdie, half of the Safdie brothers with his brother Josh, and therefore co-director of good timeswith Robert Pattinson, or Uncut Gemsstarring Adam Sandler.
Co-created by Benny Safdie and Nathan Fielder, The Curse is shaping up to be a satirical comedy featuring a couple (Emma Stone and Fielder himself) hosting a typical reality show Search apartment or house, and who will be struck by a strange curse as he seeks to conceive a child. Benny Safdie will play the producer of this show where it is about transforming houses in New Mexico into ecological habitats. The first image gives an idea of the quirky and potentially “uncomfortable” tone of The Cursewhich we already imagine as Stéphane Plaza feel bad.
Emma Stone talks about the creation of Poor Creatures
The first three episodes of the series will be shown at the New York festival within a line-up very enticing which includes, among others, the latest Miyazaki, The Boy and the Heron, Ferrari by Michael Mann, Maestro by Bradley Cooper… As well as Poor Creaturesthe new Yorgos Lanthimos, which means a double ration of Emma Stone for the New York fans of the actress of La La Land.
The Curse should then be shown by the end of the year on the American channel Showtime – we do not yet know where and when it will be visible in France. In the meantime, Benny Safdie is starring in one of the summer hits, Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan as scientist Edward Teller.
