First day box office: Our salvation stronger than Tom Cruise

Emmanuelle Marre’s historic film starts at the top with more than 60,000 admissions including previews, while Digger is only in third position.

Is it that Our Salvation will be the nice French surprise of the fall in theaters?

Emmanuelle Marre’s historic film attracted 26,106 spectators in 356 theaters for its first day, and has already attracted more than 60,000 admissions with previews.

This is significantly more than Nothing to give a damnthe director’s previous film, which recorded 14,000 admissions, including previews, on its first day in 2022.

In a similar vein, Rays and Shadowsalso dealing with collaboration, although carried by the aura of Xavier Giannoli, attracted 21,000 spectators on its first day last March. The film then held up very well over time, ending its career at 900,000.

The historic French film therefore goes ahead of Hollywood stars.

Anne Hathaway comes in second place with Verityadaptation of the novel by Colleen Hoover, which brings together 25,000 spectators in 384 theaters, and already more than 42,000 with the previews.

A start in line with the author’s previous adaptations in France: Regretting You had recorded 22,600 admissions in October 2025 before ending its career with around 300,000 spectators.

Big disappointment on the other hand for Tom Cruise and Digger. Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s comedy only has 27,551 admissions in 500 theaters (AVP included). Little helped by not very exciting reviews, the film marks a sluggish first day for Tom Cruise, accustomed to much more impressive starts.

This is obviously very far from the 230,000 entries made by Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on his first day in France last year (AVP included). But even excluding the franchise, Digger does less well than Barry Seal: American Trafficwhich had 34,027 admissions on its first day in 2017.

Also note the nice start of Kraken. The French horror film by Mohamed Chabane and Théo Jourdain, their first feature film, exceeds 20,000 spectators (including AVP), in only 177 theaters, despite its ban on under-16s. It’s as much as Vermin by Sébastien Vaniček, who achieved this score in December 2023 in 230 theaters.

Finally, Girl’s memorydirected by Judith Godrèche and adapted from the book by Annie Ernaux, has around 10,000 tickets sold (AVP included).
