He-Man arrives in France: Masters of the Universe will be released Wednesday on Prime Video

The fantasy film will be released directly in streaming here. Having passed through theaters in North America, it was not successful.

The fight between He-Man and Skeletor did not excite crowds around the world: the fantasy film based on Mattel toys grossed $65 million in North American theaters and $49 million in other territories where it was released. A total of $114 million in worldwide box office revenue. It’s not much for The Masters of the Universewhich has a production budget of 170 million (excluding promo).

The Amazon MGM studio therefore decided not to release the film in cinemas in France in favor of streaming it online for subscribers to its platform (which would not have been possible so early here, due to the chronology of the French media). It will be released tomorrow in France, as Amazon did recently with the excellent police comedy The Sheep Detectives worn by Hugh Jackman! Masters of the Universe will indeed be available on Prime Video worldwide this Wednesday July 22.

Masters of the Universedirected by Travis Knight, therefore resumes the story of He-Man at the beginning: “After fifteen years of separation, the Sword of Power guides Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) to Eternia, where he discovers his world ravaged under the evil reign of Skeletor (Jared Leto). To save his family and his universe, Adam will have to join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man – the most powerful man in the universe” details the synopsis.
