Ice Age, Percy Jackson, Elio… Disney films and series are coming to Netflix

Disney and Netflix strengthen their partnership with a vast licensing agreement. On the program: five Ice Age films and the first two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, while waiting for several Pixar films.

Disney and Netflix are competitors in the streaming market, but that doesn’t stop the two giants from doing business.

Disney Entertainment and Netflix have just concluded a new, particularly broad licensing agreement, which allows the red N platform to host a mix of films from the Disney catalog and recent series, for varying durations.

And Disney intends to take advantage of this additional exposure to increase the pressure around some of its next releases. First example: the first two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the original Disney+ series, are now available on Netflix worldwide since October 4, for a three-month promotional window. The objective is clear: attract new viewers before the arrival of season 3 on Disney+ on November 20.

Same operation for Ice Age. The first five films in the saga produced by 20th Century Studios have also been on Netflix since this date, again for three months. A way to put the franchise back in the spotlight before the cinema release of the sixth part, Ice Age: The Volcano AwakensFebruary 5, 2027.

Netflix will therefore offer Ice Age (2002), Ice Age 2 (2006), Ice Age 3: The Age of Dinosaurs (2009), Ice Age 4: Continental Drift (2012) and Ice Age 5: The Laws of the Universe (2016).

On the series side, three 20th Television productions are also affected. Will Trent, whose first four seasons will be available worldwide from November 3, will arrive on Netflix before the launch of its season 5 on ABC, scheduled for early 2027.

Shifting Gears, the first two seasons of which will be offered from December 1 in the United States then in January internationally, will benefit from the same system before its season 3, expected in early 2027 on ABC.

Finally, Tracker will land on Netflix internationally, outside the United States, with its first three seasons starting February 26, 2027. Season 4 will begin on October 4 on CBS.

The deal is not just about franchises. Several Disney and Pixar films will also join Netflix worldwide from the start of 2027, with dates that may vary depending on the territory. Among them: Soul, Elio and Raya and the Last Dragon.

American subscribers will be able to find Felicity on Netflix from October 7, while the series will arrive later in other territories. Revenge will be available worldwide, Army Wives will also be available, while Fresh Off the Boat will be offered in the United States and select regions.

Finally, This Is Us will be available internationally, outside the United States. The series had already been offered on American Netflix between 2024 and 2025.

For Disney and Netflix, the operation is rather win-win: the former’s films and series gain visibility among Netflix’s more than 325 million subscribers, while generating additional revenue thanks to licenses. The second obviously enriches its catalog.

Note that all of these licensed works remain available on Disney+.
