Les Misérables revolts in epic new trailer on top of the barricades
Marius leads the revolution in this new video from the great film by Fred Cavayé, which recounts the social misery of the 1830s and the fight of Jean Valjean.
“By wanting order too much, we end up creating chaos…“
After a first trailer imbued with a certain literary breath and marked by the confrontation between Valjean and Javert, Les Miserables offers a new, much more spectacular trailer.
Studio Canal has posted this trailer online which highlights the rise of social anger in the streets of Paris, the one recounted by Vicor Hugo in his aptly named novel.
The new video climbs to the top of the barricades and recalls the deeply historical anchoring of the masterpiece. Far from being a romantic invention, these scenes of revolt intensely replay the republican insurrection of June 5 and 6, 1832. Triggered in Paris by the funeral of General Lamarque and exacerbated by a terrible cholera epidemic, this bloody revolt – of which Hugo himself was a direct witness – ended with the crushing of the insurgents by the army. By depicting this bloody page in French History, the film promises to restore all the dramatic fervor of these forgotten days which forged the destiny of Jean Valjean…
As director, Fred Cavayé reunites with Vincent Lindon, whom he had already directed in the thriller For her in 2008.
Vincent Lindon is Jean Valjean. Opposite him, Tahar Rahim will play the inflexible Javert. The rest of the cast brings together Noémie Merlant in the role of Fantine, while Camille Cottin and Benjamin Lavernhe will be the Thénardiers .
Vassili Schneider, Megan Northam, Marie Colomb and Louis Peres complete the cast.
Produced by ESKWAD (Richard Grandpierre) and Curiosa Films (Olivier Delbosc), Les Miserables will be released in French theaters on October 14, 2026.
